Employee Insights: Henri Dumont Tchakoukam Djomgoue

04/01/2025 Medicine or engineering? New paths or old dreams? What if the original plan doesn’t work out?

Henri had a clear goal: to become a doctor, heal diseases, and help people. But when he moved from Cameroon to Germany in 2016, he quickly realised that studying medicine here wouldn’t just require language skills and additional exams – it would also mean waiting.

Waiting for his school qualifications to be officially recognised. Waiting for a spot in a highly competitive degree programme.

But Henri didn’t want to wait – he wanted to start. To move forward. He chose a different path: engineering. A new field, full of opportunities.

Today, at Toshiba Railway Europe GmbH, Henri ensures that innovations meet the highest safety and quality standards – with the same precision and responsibility demanded by medicine. And somehow, his journey brought him back to an old companion: Toshiba.

“My first laptop was a Toshiba. As a kid, I thought: If they can build such great computers, they must be capable of so much more!”
As an engineer, Henri had the freedom to choose his positions. When Toshiba Railway Europe offered him the chance to return to homologation and contribute to an innovative company, the decision was easy.

Sometimes, brands follow us through life without us even realising it. For Henri, Toshiba represented reliability, technology, and progress – and today, he actively contributes to that legacy.
Thank you, Henri, for your story and your energy!
